About us

The Historical and Archaeological Museum in Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski was opened on 3rd December, 1966, in the year of the nationwide celebrations of the Millennium of the Polish State. The museum has operated in a professional manner, cooperating with other museums, cultural institutions, schools, and associations from the beginning of its existence. Since 2001, the Historical and Archaeological Museum has been in the elite group of museums inscribed in the State Register of Museums of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, which confirms the high level of substantive activity and the uniqueness of the collections. Since 2022, the institution has been co-run by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. The Historical and Archaeological Museum has two branches: the Wielopolski Palace in the Częstocice district of Ostrowiec and the Archaeological Museum and Krzemionki Reserve in Sudół, located 8 kilometres from Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski.
