The Archaeological Museum and Reserve “Krzemionki” collects archaeological artefacts and conducts its research activities, covering mainly the region of the middle and lower Kamienna valley.
Due to the care of the complex of prehistoric striped flint mines in Krzemionki, the largest collection of artefacts is related to flint mining and processing in the Neolithic and early Bronze Age. In addition, the collected artefacts represent all eras, from the oldest traces of human presence in this area in the Old Stone Age (Palaeolithic) to modern times. Of particular interest are artefacts from famous archaeological sites: “Gawroniec” in Ćmielów (a settlement of the Funnel Beaker culture) and “Chmielów Piaskowy” (a cemetery of the Przeworsk culture). Equally interesting are the bronze binocular ornaments from the Przeuszyn hoard or the collection of various forms of ancient iron slag blocks. The artefacts come mainly from surface and excavation research and intervention research after receiving notifications. A large group of artefacts are objects donated to the museum by private individuals.
